Composition
- Amorepacific Ventures made a strategic investment in Junevity plus a separate licensing agreement for cosmetic applications; terms undisclosed.
- Junevity's RESET Platform will be used to discover novel skin-ageing gene-network pathways, with Amorepacific leading cosmetic development and commercialization.
- Junevity continues therapeutic work on the same platform, including a lead siRNA obesity candidate headed into human clinical trials.

Amorepacific has taken a strategic stake in Junevity, a US biotechnology company, and signed a separate licensing agreement covering cosmetic applications of Junevity's RESET Platform — a deal that puts gene-network "reset" biology on the roadmap of the group behind Laneige.
Amorepacific Ventures, the Seoul-based group's corporate venture arm, executed the investment. The financial terms were not disclosed, but the structure matters more than the sum: equity plus a field-specific license gives Amorepacific a defined route to cosmetic use of the platform while Junevity retains its therapeutic pipeline.
Junevity's RESET Platform is a target-discovery engine built around transcriptional regulation — the gene networks that govern how cells age. Under the collaboration, the two companies will hunt for novel skin-ageing pathways suitable for cosmetic applications, with the stated goal of resetting and rejuvenating skin gene networks toward a healthier state. Junevity supplies the discovery engine; Amorepacific brings its skin biology expertise, formulation capability and, critically, the commercialization channel to market.
Brian Byung-Fhy Suh, CTO of the Amorepacific R&I Center, framed the rationale in research terms: "The next-generation of skin health innovations will be informed by deeper research-driven insights into the biology of skin ageing, particularly the role of gene networks and transcriptional regulation in longevity."
He added: "The cutting-edge work by the team at Junevity and their sophisticated RESET Platform will enable us to explore novel pathways underlying skin ageing and advance our research toward longevity solutions. Through this joint research, we also aim to explore hybrid technologies through collaboration across adjacent fields, opening new possibilities for long-term skin health."
What the deal signals
For formulators and product developers, the significance is the target-discovery model itself. Rather than screening cosmetic actives against known markers — antioxidants, peptides, retinoids — Amorepacific is buying access to a platform that identifies ageing pathways at the gene-network level and then designs interventions to reprogram them. If the collaboration yields cosmetic-grade targets, the resulting actives would sit at the far end of the "skin longevity" trend, closer to the science claims of biotech-origin ingredients than to conventional botanical positioning.
The division of labor is clean. Amorepacific leads development and commercialization of cosmetic products. Junevity continues advancing therapeutic applications of the same platform — including, according to CEO John Hoekman, "our lead siRNA candidate for obesity that is headed into human clinical trials." That therapeutic track record is the credibility hook: the platform is already generating candidates rigorous enough for clinical development, albeit in a different indication.
Hoekman emphasized the strategic logic for his side: "We are excited to be working with Amorepacific, a leader in skin science, to explore the potential of our technology in skin care. This partnership demonstrates the breadth of our approach and the potential to open new doors for our platform, extend its reach into new markets and create additional avenues for long-term value."
Compliance and procurement angles
For regulatory and claims teams, gene-network reprogramming raises familiar questions. Any cosmetic product emerging from the deal will need claims substantiation that stays on the right side of the drug/cosmetic boundary — "resetting gene networks" is laboratory language, not label language, in most jurisdictions. South Korea's functional cosmetics framework and the EU's claims regulation will both shape how Amorepacific translates pathway-level science into consumer-facing language. Procurement teams, meanwhile, should note that the active ingredients from this program will likely be proprietary and exclusive to Amorepacific brands, not available on the ingredient market.
The deal also continues a pattern among major beauty groups: corporate venture investment as a substitute for, or complement to, in-house biotech capability. Buying early access to a discovery platform de-risks long-cycle R&D while letting the startup carry the therapeutic risk.
No timelines were disclosed for first products or launch windows. The next data points to watch are the output of the joint pathway-discovery research and whether Amorepacific files functional-cosmetic claims or discloses the firstRESET-derived ingredient identity in its future launches.
