Ouai has partnered with jewellery and lifestyle brand Heaven Mayhem to launch a limited-edition collection of fragrance amulets, marking the hair and body care brand's first move into scent wearables.
The collection introduces two vase-like pendants inspired by Ouai fragrances, which the brand claims reimagine how scents are worn. The design brief was straightforward: transfer the brand's fragrance identity from bottles into jewellery that customers already wear daily.
Amanda Martinez, VP of Brand Marketing at Ouai, told Cosmetics Business the collaboration grew out of a connection made last year.
"We first connected with Heaven Mayhem last year," Martinez said. "We loved the idea of bringing our fragrance world together with their approach to jewellery, and perfume amulets felt like a natural way to do that."
She added: "There is something so personal about both scent and jewellery, so we wanted to create a piece that brought those two rituals together, while creating something both our communities would be excited to wear."
What does this change for the brand's positioning?
For Ouai, founded by celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin, the amulets extend a fragrance strategy that already runs through the brand's hair and body care lines into a wearable format. The move follows a broader pattern in the beauty sector, where brands treat scent as a standalone category rather than an ancillary benefit of shampoo or lotion.
The partnership also gives Ouai access to Heaven Mayhem's jewellery-buying audience, while Heaven Mayhem gains exposure to Ouai's personal care customer base. Martinez's framing of "both our communities" signals a deliberate cross-category play rather than a one-off licensing deal.
For buyers and merchandisers, the relevant point is scarcity: the collection is limited edition, which typically signals short retail windows and limited replenishment rather than a permanent line extension.
Why wearables matter for fragrance
Fragrance jewellery occupies a niche between fine fragrance and personal accessories. The format invites layering with existing scents and positions perfume as a daily ritual object, echoing how Martinez describes the fusion of scent and jewellery as personal practices.
The launch line begins with the Ru collection piece, with the two vase-like pendants forming the full offer.
What comes next is the market verdict: whether the limited run sells through, and whether Ouai converts this collaboration into a permanent wearable fragrance format or keeps it as a one-season marketing moment. Trade watchers should monitor Ouai's retail partners for restock signals in the coming months.
