Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) has set a fiscal 2030 target of an adjusted operating margin between 16.5% and 18.5%, sustained mid-single-digit organic sales growth and double-digit adjusted EPS growth, unveiled by CEO Stéphane de La Faverie at the company's Capital Markets Experience: China Ecosystem Immersion event in Shanghai on 4 November.
The numbers mark the formal end of the repair phase that began with the Profit Recovery and Growth Plan (PRGP), announced in November 2023 to counter flagging sales, and continued under the 'Beauty Reimagined' banner from February 2025. Under that programme, the owner of MAC Cosmetics and The Ordinary returned to growth in the 2026 financial year. Now the company wants sales rising across every product category and geographic region by 2030.
"We are now entering a new chapter, moving beyond restoring growth to accelerating sustainable, profitable growth and creating long-term value," de La Faverie told investors in Shanghai.
What does the ambition mean in practice?
The fiscal 2030 targets rest on three levers, laid out in the company's statement. First, ELC plans to expand consumer reach and conversion through what it calls "best-in-class consumer coverage". Second, it intends to recruit and retain consumers through "transformative innovation". Third, it will amplify "brand desirability, relevance, equity and engagement through sustained consumer-facing investment".
For the group's brands — from mass-adjacent skincare label The Ordinary to prestige makeup house MAC — the direction signals continued pressure to justify shelf space and media spend through measurable conversion, not awareness alone. Sustained consumer-facing investment, in ELC's phrasing, implies budgets weighted toward engagement channels rather than traditional brand advertising.
The structural change behind the targets is the 'One ELC' operating model. The company has dismantled regional silos and moved to a unified global business structure, a shift it credits for part of the turnaround's speed. De La Faverie tied the model directly to the new ambition, citing "growing confidence in the strength of 'Beauty Reimagined' and the impact of our 'One ELC' operating model".
Momentum already on the board
The Shanghai presentation followed hard numbers. On 2 November, ELC raised its financial outlook for fiscal 2027 after first-quarter sales rose 7%. The CEO said the fiscal 2027 outlook "reflects this momentum, with accelerating organic sales growth and another year of significant profitability improvement".
The choice of Shanghai for the capital markets event is itself a statement. China remains the beauty market where ELC's premium skincare and makeup franchises have historically generated outsized sales, and the 'China Ecosystem Immersion' framing placed the region at the centre of the investment case for the next four years.
De La Faverie cast the transformation in operational terms. "We are becoming a faster, more agile and more consumer-centric company, with the creativity, entrepreneurial mindset and operational discipline to win in a rapidly evolving beauty landscape," he said.
What to watch next
The timeline is concrete: mid-single-digit organic sales growth and double-digit adjusted EPS growth annually through fiscal 2030, with the margin band of 16.5% to 18.5% as the endpoint. The PRGP launched in November 2023; Beauty Reimagined expanded it in February 2025; the first quarter of fiscal 2027 delivered 7% sales growth. The next data point to watch is whether the raised fiscal 2027 guidance holds when ELC reports its second-quarter results — the first test of whether the 'next chapter' opens as planned.
"We have laid the foundation, we are building momentum, and I firmly believe the best of ELC is yet to come," de La Faverie said.
