Composition

  1. PDRN generated 37.2 million average monthly interactions across Google, TikTok and Instagram with 609.8% year-on-year growth, per Spate's 2026 Ingredient Trends Report; interest is predicted to rise a further 34.4% this year.
  2. 2026 launches span the full market: Primark PS… PDRN from £2.50 (camellia-derived vegan PDRN, seven products, October), L'Oréal Revitalift Filler with patented biotech PDRN+ at £31.99, The Ordinary Lacto-PDRN 4% eye cream at £8.70, and Dior Capture PDRN-Shot at £72.
  3. Most new PDRN is vegan or biotech-sourced rather than salmon-derived: Lactobacillus rhamnosus fermentation (The Ordinary), Centella asiatica (Clinique), camellia flower (Primark), plant-derived (Dior, Iconic London).

PDRN – polydeoxyribonucleotide, the DNA-derived active that Korean pharmacies have stocked for years – generated 37.2 million average monthly interactions across Google, TikTok and Instagram in Spate's 2026 Ingredient Trends Report, with year-on-year growth of 609.8%. The forecaster expects another 34.4% rise this year, and Western brands have already committed shelf space accordingly: L'Oréal Paris, The Ordinary, Dior, Clinique, Medik8, Nip + Fab, Byoma, Iconic London and Primark all launched PDRN products in 2026.

For formulators and buyers, the significance is scale. PDRN has jumped from clinic-only injectable heritage to a full price spectrum, from Primark's £2.50 entry point to Dior's £72 Capture PDRN-Shot, within a single launch cycle.

The positioning logic

"PDRN has reached a really interesting point where several skin care trends are coming together," says Dr Christine Hall, aesthetic doctor and Korean skin care expert. "We are moving away from the idea of harsh actives, and that we always need to stimulate or exfoliate the skin, and more towards supporting the skin's own ability to recover and maintain itself."

Hall also points to consumer interest in longevity and regenerative beauty: PDRN has "a very compelling story because of its history in regenerative medicine and wound healing." She cautions on claims, though. "While we cannot and should not claim that topical PDRN carries the same regenerative benefits as the injectable form, it has its values in repairing compromised skin."

For marketing and regulatory teams, that distinction matters. Topical PDRN claims in these launches cluster around hydration, calming, barrier support and radiance – not regeneration – which keeps the ingredient inside cosmetic claim territory.

"The fact that it can be formulated into everything from serums and creams, to eye products and primers, also makes it very easy for brands to bring the trend into everyday skin care," Hall explains.

Sourcing has shifted to vegan and biotech routes

Traditional PDRN comes from salmon sperm DNA, but nearly every 2026 launch uses an alternative source – a procurement and sustainability story in itself.

L'Oréal Paris upgraded its bestselling Revitalift Filler serum with patented biotech PDRN+ plus hyaluronic acid, claiming the molecule is 3,000 times smaller than a pore for optimal surface absorption. RRP £31.99 at Boots.

The Ordinary built its first-ever eye cream around Lacto-PDRN 4% + B9, created through controlled fermentation of Lactobacillus rhamnosus, selected for targeted data on the eye area – a clinical-evidence-first approach consistent with the brand's ethos. RRP £8.70.

Clinique's Smart Clinical Repair Collagen + PDRN Cream uses PDRN biotech-derived from Centella asiatica (cica), paired with collagen to target early collagen decline; clinical testing also showed improved texture and radiance. RRP £60.

Primark's PS… PDRN range derives its vegan PDRN from camellia flower across a seven-product line-up – cleanser, overnight mask, serum, sheet mask, eye gel patches and toner pads – combined with niacinamide, collagen, a peptide complex, pro-vitamin B5 and hyaluronic acid. The retailer claims to be first to bring PDRN to market "at a truly affordable price for consumers," from £2.50 in stores from October.

The science-led tier

Medik8's Exo-PDRN Prismatic+ Youthful Vitality Serum pairs vegan PDRN – engineered with a stable tetrahedral structure for deep penetration – with exosomes. Clinical results cited by the brand cover barrier function, wrinkles, redness, even tone, texture, volume, firmness and elasticity. RRP £79.

Byoma's first longevity serum, Longevit-8 Peptide Serum, contains vegan phyto-PDRN alongside NMN (a NAD+ precursor) and a GHK-Cu longevity matrix of copper peptides, niacinamide and vitamin E that the brand says supports natural collagen 2.5x more effectively than retinol. Clinical testing claims wrinkle depth reduction of up to 85% in two weeks, instant hydration boost of up to 123% and visible skin density enhancement in one month, measured across eight markers. RRP £25.

Dior's Capture PDRN-Shot combines plant-derived PDRN with vitamin Cg and niacinamide; dermatologist assessment found skin appeared 65% smoother and 62% more radiant, with 25% more radiance for eight hours and dark spots 25% less visible in 28 days. RRP £72.

Nip + Fab's Protein Fix Skin Longevity Booster Drops 10% carries 1% vegan PDRN with 2% NAD+ Enzyme Activator and 2% microalgae biomimetic exosomes, positioned around "collagen banking" – proactive preservation of skin structure before visible ageing. RRP £29.95.

PDRN moves into colour cosmetics

Iconic London's Underglaze Long-Wear PDRN Grippy Primer uses plant-derived PDRN with hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, delivering 12 hours of grip and a dewy "underglaze" finish while claiming skin improvement over time. RRP £26. The launch signals PDRN's extension beyond skin care into hybrid make-up – a format watch for buyers building 2027 ranges.

Formulation quality over trend-chasing

Hall's closing note is directed squarely at product development teams: "Molecular characteristics, delivery system and the other ingredients used alongside PDRN all matter. I would much rather see a brand create a genuinely well-formulated product that uses PDRN to support the skin than simply add it to a formula because it is the ingredient of the moment."

Spate's data shows K-beauty brands Medicube, Rejuran, Anua, Genabelle and VT-Cosmetics still dominating PDRN interest, meaning Western launches are competing for share against established Korean equity. With interest still accelerating and the ingredient now proven across mass, masstige, prestige and colour formats, the next data points to watch are whether PDRN sustains its growth curve into 2027 and which suppliers scale certified vegan and biotech PDRN supply to meet demand.
