Thea Green, who founded Nails.Inc in 1999 and sold it to Pacific World Corporation in 2024, has left the business after 27 years. She announced her departure in a LinkedIn post, closing a chapter that began with US-style nail bars and ended with a multi-brand portfolio sitting inside a private equity group.
Green launched the British nail care brand in 1999, when she was credited with bringing the American nail bar concept to the UK. The format proved durable. Salons multiplied, and the brand built a retail identity that later carried it out of the salon channel altogether.
What does the exit change?
Nails.Inc has already evolved from a salon-based operation into a product-focused brand. Today it sells through John Lewis, Sephora, Selfridges and Target, plus Amazon online. That distribution map spans both UK department stores and US mass retail, which points to where the growth thesis now sits for its owner.
The 2024 sale to Pacific World Corporation covered more than the core nail line. The deal included:
- INC.redible, the make-up business
- Holler and Glow, the bath product and mask range, since rebranded simply as Holler
Green stayed on as Chairwoman after the transaction. Her exit removes the last direct link to the founding team from the ownership structure.
What did Green say?
Her statement mixed reflection with relief. "When I started over 25 years ago, I could never have imagined what an adventure it would be," Green said in the post.
"It is not easy saying goodbye to something you have created and poured so much of yourself into, but it also feels right," she added, thanking what she called the "brilliant teams" and the brand's customers.
She framed her own future in plain terms: "After 25 years moving at approximately 100 miles an hour, I am going to recharge, enjoy some chill time, try standing still and see what life looks like without quite so many meetings." She signed off with a nod to what may come next: "And who knows what might happen next…"
Green also left the door open on her relationship with the brands. "I will proudly cheer the Nails.Inc brands on from the sidelines," she wrote. "Forever your mum, just no longer your coach/manager."
Why the timing matters
Green received an MBE in 2011 for services to the beauty industry, a mark of how far the nail bar concept she imported had travelled in twelve years. The sale to Pacific World in 2024, followed by her departure now, completes a transition that many founder-led beauty brands attempt and fewer execute cleanly.
For the trade, the signal is straightforward. Pacific World now controls strategy, brand architecture and channel mix for Nails.Inc, INC.redible and Holler without the founder's voice in the room. Retail buyers who built relationships with Green will deal with a purely corporate interlocutor from here.
Cosmetics Business has contacted Pacific World Corporation for comment. Its response, or silence, will shape how the market reads the succession behind the founders' exit. Watch the next product filings and retail listing decisions from the three brands in the coming quarters for the first evidence of where the new owner intends to take them.
