Composition
- Estée Lauder Companies appointed Guillaume Gellusseau SVP and GM of Kilian Paris and Parfums Frédéric Malle.
- Gellusseau brings 30 years in luxury brand management, most recently as Global CMO at Galeries Lafayette.
- He previously led Designer Brands, Serge Lutens and the Fragrance Center of Excellence at Shiseido Group.
- CEO Stéphane de la Faverie said Kilian Paris deployed to more channels and retailers worldwide during 2026.

Estée Lauder Companies has placed Kilian Paris and Parfums Frédéric Malle under a single leader, appointing Guillaume Gellusseau as Senior Vice President and General Manager of both fragrance houses. The move gives one executive full strategic, commercial and operational responsibility for two brands that sit at different ends of ELC's prestige fragrance portfolio.
Gellusseau arrives with a thirty-year record across luxury brand management, fragrance, beauty, retail and marketing. His most recent post was at Galeries Lafayette, the French luxury department store chain, where he served as Global Chief Marketing, Digital and Communication Officer. Before that, he was Global SVP and GM of Designer Brands, Serge Lutens and the Fragrance Center of Excellence at Shiseido Group. Earlier roles span L'Oréal's Luxe division and Lancôme, Yves Saint Laurent Beauté and Parfums Christian Dior UK.
What does the appointment change?
For procurement and retail partners, the structure consolidates two separately run fragrance houses into a single commercial chain of command. ELC states that Gellusseau will oversee the global direction, brand development and growth ambitions of both companies, while preserving their distinct creative identities.
That last clause matters. Kilian Paris and Frédéric Malle occupy different creative positions — one built on nightlife-inflected luxury storytelling, the other on a curator-led edition model — and distributors will watch whether the shared management layer keeps the two assortments distinct. The mandate signals ELC intends to scale both houses without merging their identities.
The appointment also sharpens ELC's fragrance focus at a moment when the category carries growth expectations for the group's prestige portfolio. Gellusseau's experience at Shiseido's Fragrance Center of Excellence and Galeries Lafayette's digital operation positions him to push channel expansion alongside wholesale distribution.
Kilian Paris as the template
ELC CEO Stéphane de la Faverie has already signalled which of the two brands serves as the internal benchmark. Speaking at the Barclays Global Consumer Conference, he singled out Kilian Paris as an example "[where] the brand has created an alternative model to be able to accelerate an indie brand within the portfolio of the Estée Lauder Companies."
"During the course of 2026, we have really deployed the brand in more channels, more retailers around the world," de la Faverie added.
The timeline is concrete: 2026 marks the year ELC widened Kilian Paris's distribution across channels and markets. For retail buyers, that phrase translates into more shelf presence and more retail doors competing for the same brand — a factor worth weighing in assortment planning for the coming seasons.
For Frédéric Malle, the question is whether the same acceleration model now applies. Gellusseau inherits a brand with a narrower, editorial distribution footprint and a mandate that explicitly mentions growth ambitions, which suggests ELC sees headroom in that house as well.
A portfolio-wide fragrance play
The structural logic follows ELC's broader pattern of professionalising acquired niche houses with executives who have operated at scale. Gellusseau's path — L'Oréal Luxe, Shiseido, a retailer vantage point at Galeries Lafayette — covers the three perspectives the role demands: brand building, group-level discipline and channel intelligence.
What does this change for the average formulation or merchandising professional? Not the ingredients list, but the go-to-market rhythm. Consolidated leadership at two fragrance houses typically means faster distribution decisions, unified negotiation points for retailers and a clearer pipeline of market entries under one signatory.
The next data point to watch is ELC's next earnings commentary, where investors and trade partners will look for evidence that the single-manager structure for Kilian Paris and Frédéric Malle is lifting fragrance sales — and whether Frédéric Malle begins to mirror Kilian Paris's 2026 channel expansion in 2027.
